June 26, 2025 – Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba convened a high-level public-private council meeting focused on enhancing Japan’s drug discovery capabilities, bringing together approximately 30 selected leaders from the biopharmaceutical industry.

The “Public-Private Council for Improving Drug Discovery Capabilities” was jointly organized by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Cabinet Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Among the select group of presenters was Tomohiro Anzai, Managing Partner of Fast Track Initiative (FTI), who served as a key presenter addressing opportunities in the global life science venture ecosystem. Anzai’s presentation focused on how Japan-international collaboration can accelerate breakthrough drug discoveries that transform healthcare worldwide.
